CopyDown Privacy Policy
This policy explains how CopyDown, a Mac app published by DEVMIND CONSULTING LLC (“we”, “us”), handles information.
What CopyDown stores, and where
CopyDown keeps the following only on your Mac, inside the app’s own sandboxed folder:
- Text you copy while capture mode is on. CopyDown reads the clipboard only while you have capture mode turned on, and only after you copy something.
- Images you copy while capture mode is on, and screenshots you take with Capture screenshot. CopyDown captures the screen only when you press the shortcut and select an area; it never records your screen in the background. Screenshots are processed on your Mac and are not saved to your Desktop.
- Your groups, notes, tables and column headers.
- Settings, such as keyboard shortcuts and preferences.
This data stays on your Mac until you delete it. Deleting an item or clearing a group removes it,
including its screenshot files. To remove everything, quit CopyDown, delete the app, and delete the
folder ~/Library/Containers/com.akimple.CopyDown.
What CopyDown does not do
- It does not transmit your copied content, screenshots, notes, tables or settings to DEVMIND CONSULTING LLC or anyone else. The app contains no networking code.
- It requires no account and has no cloud sync.
- It contains no analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking software, and no third-party SDKs.
- We do not sell user data.
Permissions
CopyDown may ask macOS for:
- Paste from Other Apps — so capture mode can read what you copy in other apps.
- Screen & System Audio Recording — so Capture screenshot can capture the area you select.
You can change these at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security. CopyDown does not use Accessibility, Input Monitoring, your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
If you contact us
If you choose Give Feedback… in the app, CopyDown opens a draft in your own email app. The draft includes your CopyDown and macOS version numbers so we can help; you can edit or delete them before sending. Nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply to you.
Apple, the App Store and macOS
CopyDown is distributed through Apple’s App Store and runs on macOS. Apple may collect information through its own services — for example about downloads and purchases, and, if you choose to share them, crash reports and usage data — under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Apple may share aggregated statistics with developers, and crash reports from people who choose to share them with app developers. CopyDown itself sends nothing.
macOS features outside CopyDown’s control, such as Universal Clipboard or backups you set up (for example Time Machine or iCloud), may copy data on your Mac according to your own settings.
Children
CopyDown does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
